Valley of Southern Illinois
AASR, NMJ

The Valley of Southern Illinois, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, is located in Belleville, Illinois. The Valley is made up of the four coordinate bodies:

St. Clair Lodge of Perfection, chartered July 26, 1906
Cahokia Council, Princes of Jerusalem, chartered July 28, 1910
John M. Pearson Chapter of Rose Croix, chartered July 28, 1910
Mississippi Valley Consistory, chartered October 2, 1911

The Valley began in East St. Louis, IL in 1906 on the third floor of a building at Eighth Street and St. Clair Avenue. Plans were soon made for a new building, and in 1910 the St. Clair Lodge of Perfection met in the new Temple at 14th and College in East St. Louis. For the next sixty years the Valley prospered and grew until once again we sought larger accommodations. In the Spring of 1971, the new Scottish Rite Cathedral was completed at our present location – 1549 Frank Scott Parkway W, Belleville, IL.

Our present Cathedral is located in Belleville, IL on thirty two wooded acres. It serves not only as our office and meeting location, but also as a Community Performing Arts Center where numerous activities are conducted throughout the year for the public to attend.

We recently created space for our Jurisdiction’s newest Charity – The 32° Masonic Learning Center for Children. Here we are able to train tutors who then work with children with dyslexia. All of this is provided by the 32° Masons of the Valley of Southern Illinois and the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction at no cost to the tutor or child.
